Melvin Stewart was born and raised in McMinnville, TN and spent the early years of his life learning how to fish from his mother Ailene Stewart. Melvin moved to Nashville in the early 1980s and has been fishing the lakes and rivers of Davidson County every since.

Melvin spends most of his time fishing on the Cumberland River, Percy Priest Lake, and at Montgomery Bell State Park. He fishes competitively in several local fishing tournaments each year and writes a weekly fishing report for the Tennessean Newspaper.
